Season Of Rest

Season Of Rest

If you had asked me about my feelings of winter in TN at any time before January 2025 my answer would have been, “I hate it.”

It is dark in middle Tennessee by 5:00 p.m. during the winter months.  The days are short, it is cold, everything outside is dead, and there is very little sunshine.  It can be very depressing after a few weeks.  It often makes me feel as if the weight of the world is on my shoulders.  The darkness is such a heavy feeling.  My description of Winter – gray, dark and dead.

So what happened this year?  What made it different?  My life was very busy from July through December last year.  I kept telling myself, “Retired people are not supposed to be this busy.”  Once the holidays were behind me, I was tired and knew that I needed rest.  For once in my life, I focused on the need to be indoors and things I could accomplish inside my home rather than focusing on what I couldn’t do outside. I have been enjoying the slower pace, reading books, watching television and working on my cookbook.  There have even been a few days I stayed in my pajamas all day!

My husband and I share the love and need of sunshine and fresh air, but Spring will be here before we know it and we will be back outside doing the things we love and the busyness will start all over again.  I guess it’s taken me 62 years to learn to enjoy ALL the seasons and it’s ok to take a season of rest.

We live our life rushing with full calendars! Then we retire and think we need to continue to have full calendars but now filled up with pickelball, cards, crafts etc plus people staying what’s your purpose now?
I’m not going to rush to the finish line!!!
    That is my purpose!
My purpose now enjoy each day, spend more time with family, yes it is ok to stay indoors and stay in pj’s all day! Read what I want, watch what I want, love spending time quiet with God and feeling blessed that he is in my life.
I earned retirement and God has us where he wants us at this moment!
Am not rushing to the finish line!
    Enjoy the moments!
    Love you all!

Psalm 23:2 states “He makes me lie down in green pastures.” There nis a season for resting. Don’t let the hard days win.

I’m Susan

Thank you for visiting my site.

It is with great determination that I am living life to the fullest as I journey through my retirement years with
Heart Disease and Parkinson’s.
I hope you find encouragement as you follow along on my journey.

Motto’s I live by:

  • If you’re living in fear, you’re not living in faith.
  • Today I refuse to stress myself out about things I cannot control or change.
  • It’s hard to have a bad attitude, when you start your day with gratitude.

Favorite scripture:

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9 NIV
